Do me a favor and don’t look at the time this was posted. I can’t sleep. The precious flocks of slumber are lost to me. Ooh, look at that, now I wax poetical. 😉
After trying for three hours, I had an argument with myself…bath or Bible? You know, I craved to know His reason for this night. So I’m down with the Bible.
And I found it. The verses of the day on Biblegateway, seriously, I just am in awe of my God.
9On the left hand [and to the north] where He works [I seek Him], but I cannot behold Him; He turns Himself to the right hand [and to the south], but I cannot see Him.
10But He knows the way that I take [He has concern for it, appreciates, and pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined gold [pure and luminous].(A)
11My foot has held fast to His steps; His ways have I kept and not turned aside.12I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
Yesterday, I read my blog to the kids which had something with God’s right hand. And one of my precious said, Mom, I think God likes His right hand. Very seriously. Hmmm..he may be right. HA! (Maybe it is a mistake to do my blog in the middle of the night..) Yet, I can’t wait to show this kiddo that God’s left is mentioned here.
Basically, what Job is saying in verse 9 is this: God I cannot see you move. I cannot see what you are doing. You are hiding Your way from me. Tragedy. Sorrow. Pain. Death..yep, pretty much sums up Job’s life. Job is wondering…
Psalm 89
6How long, O Lord? Will You hide Yourself forever? How long shall Your wrath burn like fire?
47O [earnestly] remember how short my time is and what a mere fleeting life mine is. For what emptiness, falsity, futility, and frailty You have created all men!
48What man can live and shall not see death, or can deliver himself from the [powerful] hand of Sheol (the place of the dead)? Selah [pause, and calmly consider that]!
Verse 10…
10But He knows the way that I take [He has concern for it, appreciates, and pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined gold [pure and luminous].(A)
My God knows…to perceive and see, find out and discern, to know by experience..the way I take ( Heb. the way that is with me). Ponder that!
Psalm 139
1O LORD, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.
2You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off.(A)
3You sift and search out my path and my lying down, and You are acquainted with all my ways.
4For there is not a word in my tongue [still unuttered], but, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.(B)
Every move I make…
Once He has tried me…do you know how gold is refined? Well, if not, check out this website: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?topic=113299.0
It is by acids, fire..and the end result?
Well..here is unrefined gold:
And here is refined gold:
It’s beautiful! The refining process is not easy. Just look at the pictures on that website if you doubt me. 🙂
Test.. to examine, scrutinise, to test, prove, try (of gold, persons, the heart, man of God)
When I come through my trials and tribulations I shall be pure and luminous! You shall be pure and luminous.
Stay faithful! Stay the course. Hold onto Him with all you have. He does really have you in His right hand. And for the benefit of my boy..His left too.
Yet we aren’t done with the treasures in these verses!
11My foot has held fast to His steps; His ways have I kept and not turned aside.12I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
May it be said of us!
So, what am I going to hold to today? Hold fast, Cara. Keep to His ways and do not turn aside. I have not gone back from His commands..I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth..MORE THAN FOOD.
Amen to that…I’m off to try and fall asleep. Pray on, friends. Pray ON!
