Good morning, beloved,
“Sing to God, sing praises to His name, cast up a highway for Him Who rides through the deserts—His name is the Lord—be in high spirits and glory before Him! A father of the fatherless and a judge and protector of the widows is God in His holy habitation.” Psalm 68:4-5 AMP
I’m sitting here in awe. We had rain last night. I’m shocked. We stayed home from the beach in the late afternoon because of the threat of thunderstorms and when do they come? Overnight. Sigh.
It had been an overwhelming week for kids with a VBS in the morning and a soccer camp in the evening, I suppose. 🙂 Yesterday, we caught up on life around here and got stuff done. I had a list. Danny pretended he was a scientist with helping me with the refrigerator…ahem. Keepin’ it real here. Ella helped wipe all the surfaces down in the kitchen all the while singing a happy little working song. Luke wanted to help with putting slices of mango in the dehydrator. (I had a different job for him and he didn’t like it..) Then they caught up on their favorite shows with Daddy and a neighbor stopped by, blessing…friends, God is revealing to me how to show Himself to those who don’t know Him His way through me. How do I explain…it’s a revelation. Huge.
I spent much of my life so anxious when I would meet a “non-Christian”. When do I share the gospel? How? Should I write out my story? Maybe read it to them and hand them a copy for posterity? When they were dear friends, especially during my college days …God began to teach me how to be an example of love. I didn’t do that very well…it was a beginning. Now come to today, and now, as God brings encounters in my life, He leads it. And I want to tell you, whenever I hear people say that I want to roll my eyes, what does that mean?
God uses your gifts. God uses who you are and blesses those around you if you open your hands and say yes. Allow me to say, you may never know your light’s impact. Never. You may never get a chance. In past years, at other houses, we have walked away and I felt as though I let the Lord down. Yet, those people are pursued by holy God. Not my people, their journey is not your journey. As you walk into an interaction with someone, ask for the Lord’s guidance. In one relationship I have, the Spirit has been asking me to give a book away and I keep forgetting to bring the book.
I didn’t forget Friday. I gave it away. And she cried. Her father had just died, and he had always spoken highly of Jesus and she was so interested in Jesus..(the book was Jesus Calling a devotional..) Now, this was the Lord’s guidance…
And when I talked with my neighbor and she was so afraid for her son, I told her I would be praying for her, for her son, for the Lord to give her peace and I quoted Scripture to her. And she wept..It’s so beautiful, Cara. Those aren’t my words, friends. Do you see? To God be the glory.
He leads and we follow. He is calling for people. And I am finally understanding the relationship…
Speaking of relationship…
God bless you, fathers. You do kingdom work in raising up the next generation. May this day be a blessing to you.
Pray on, pray on.
