I’ve seen this skyline in person so many times. I’ve grown up admiring it’s view, loving the Sears Tower (no, it’s not Willis), Prudential Plaza, Aon Center, Hancock, etc…I depend on seeing the buildings as I drive into the city. I’m disappointed when there is fog. I love seeing the sunrise. I love the view at night. Dependable.
These buildings are huge gathering places. People slam into each other all the time. Brush shoulders. Excuse me. Bump into each other. Are near each other. And all of a sudden, our world has changed, our eyes have opened to a new reality. Something we’ve always known, but if we are honest, never paid much attention.
I’ve begun wondering what our world will be like once we are released from this lock down. Hugs. Handshakes. High fives. The world has gotten a little more uncertain. A little more fragile. A little more, wait.
Where am I? I’m in the future. I’m in uncertainty. I’m in what I cannot control. I cannot move. I cannot do. This is important. I am in this day today. The wondering about tomorrow? I’m not there yet. I’m not able to do anything about those things. However, I can do this day. I can plan and make today great.
I can walk my dog. I can Face time a friend. I can play games with my family. I can organized more of my crap and get rid of stuff, well, throw it in my garage. Burn it? I can pray. I can be a positive force on social media and for that matter, stay off as much as possible. I can cook.
21 Praise the Lord,
for he has shown me the wonders of his unfailing love.
He kept me safe when my city was under attack.
22 In panic I cried out,
“I am cut off from the Lord!”
But you heard my cry for mercy
and answered my call for help.
23 Love the Lord, all you godly ones!
For the Lord protects those who are loyal to him,
but he harshly punishes the arrogant.
24 So be strong and courageous,
all you who put your hope in the Lord!
So quiet yourself. Remind yourself of what you know of the Lord today. Know he hears you when you call. Love him. Know he protects you. Be strong. Be courageous. Put your hope in him today.
Reach out privately to me if I can be praying for you. It would be my honor.
Peace.
