Do you ever sit down for a conversation and realize that it was a mistake? As the words tumble out of your mouth, you wish you could take them back. You wish you could make things better. You wish you could heal and you don’t even know where to start.
Or words are thrown at you. You wish you could run from words dumped. Only moments before, seconds, everything was fine. Now, your world has shifted. Your perspective has changed. All because of words.
Truth
The Psalmist gives us a very different view of words. The Lord’s word is forever and firmly fixed. Faithful. Established. Stand firm. delight. Friend, the difference. Trusting in the beauty of the word of God and knowing it is firmly fixed. (vs. 89-91)
Friends, I have a chance to give life as I have been given life. Out of our mouths flow life or death and yet, I make my choice every time I open my mouth. Every time.
So do you.
So, we contemplate. We meditate. Here’s my challenge, do I treasure his words above all others?
May I today love his word more than any others.
