So I have a sweet robin sitting right by me as I sit outside this afternoon. i am so grateful for a little patio area that i can sit and just reflect on the beauty. The birds singing. i have a tree that needs to be pruned or trimmed. I have weeds to pull, but it’s life, it’s green and smells beautiful. I need to look outward, take a deep breath and see the wind move the trees.
I have my Bible with me and I’m stirred to read in Habakkuk today.
Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, yet i will celebrate in the LORD; I will rejoice in God of my salvation! The LORD my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights!
Habakkuk 3:17-19
These are verses that have always brought me so much hope. It is easy to sing when life reflects all goodness and happiness. It is easy to talk about Jesus when life has no bumps. However, when the trees in my life do not bud and there is no fruit, the praise and worship gets harder. When other circumstances distract us and rob us of circumstantial joy, celebrating in God’s presence gets tough.
Habakkuk reminds me. Declaration. I will declare God’s salvation. I will announce he is my strength. Speaking this aloud is so important. Seriously. If you could see my hand, I’m emphasizing while typing. (Not easy). I’ll end with this song. He makes my feet light, why? He’s the God who provides. He enables me to walk, his refining fire cleanses me and enables me to praise.
