We started watching the Voice again. There is something about watching a person sing with their whole heart, waiting for the chairs to turn, and family in the wings pleading for a chair to turn. I can’t imagine it. I’m a little too focused on people pleasing for this to be fun. (I’m a work in progress.lol) I also think they all sound good, so it wouldn’t be much of a competition.
The drive to belong and be part of something is strong. These contestants each say, almost verbatim, if I get on the Voice, my life will change. This is the opportunity I need.
I’m thinking of dear people around me that have been smacked by life. Whether it be physically, mentally, or spiritually, we all seem to have something that we say, if this happens, things will be so much better.
And in Jesus’ question today (yes, I’m back), he reminds me that we all belong. We all have a place. We all have a Savior.
“While He was still talking to the crowds, it happened that His mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to Him. Someone said to Him, “Look! Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside asking to speak to You.” But Jesus replied to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And stretching out His hand toward His disciples [and all His other followers], He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven [by believing in Me, and following Me] is My brother and sister and mother.””

Can you imagine the scene? Jesus, in front of crowds, is interrupted. Hey! Your family is here. they want to talk to you. Jesus gives us all a beautiful truth. When we follow Jesus, he considers us family. We belong. We have a place. We are not told why they wanted to talk to Jesus, but that isn’t the point.
When we do the will of God, when we believe, when we follow Jesus, we are family. Those that love God’s way in your life, they are family. Difficult people? They are family. Wonderful, easy to love souls? They are family.
As I’m writing, I have another section of Scripture that reminds us, not only are we family. Jesus calls us friend.
“No one has greater love [nor stronger commitment] than to lay down his own life for his friends. You are my friends if you keep on doing what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you [My] friends, because I have revealed to you everything that I have heard from My Father.”
John 15:13-15 AMP

I lay this before you today. You belong. You have purpose. You are here today for good reason. You may not understand why this is happening to you, but you can declare the truth over yourself, Jesus is home. Jesus is life. Jesus is family. And he calls me friend.
God bless you today.
