A beloved sister in Christ was called yesterday by an agency saying they could help her son. They had a whole scenario that would bring freedom. The hope, the joy found in that message she sent our little group. She shared a song, saying God had given her this song.
Let me share the song.
Don’t Stop Praying by Matthew West
See, she thought that song was the anthem that brought the answer for which she has been pounding heaven’s door. No, the evil practices that are alive today were brought to her doorstep. And by last night, she realized the call was an attempt to swindle and deceive.
Devastating. God knew she would need the truth of this song after this whole situation. Now, we could ask why did God allow that to happen. We could question God’s faithfulness. Or question His protection.
We could do all those things.
You’ve Already Won by Shane and Shane
I thought of another friend whose child has an illness that has not been diagnosed and as they sat in still another doctor’s office, they knew this doctor would not help them either.
Both of these women, mothers, felt the gut punch of another closed door on behalf of their children.
Maybe you have something in your own life that feels as though the doors are all closed and no answers are forthcoming. I pray that these verses I found today in my own desperate prayers may bless you.
“¶“Even though He kills me; I will hope in Him. Nevertheless, I will argue my ways to His face. “This also will be my salvation, For a godless man may not come before Him. “Listen diligently to my speech, And let my declaration fill your ears. “Behold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I will be vindicated.”
Job 13:13418 AMP

““For I know that my Redeemer and Vindicator lives, And at the last He will take His stand upon the earth. [Is 44:6; 48:12] “Even after my [mortal] skin is destroyed [by death], Yet from my [immortal] flesh I will see God, Whom I, even I, will see for myself, And my eyes will see Him and not another! My heart faints within me.”
Job 19:25-27 AMP

“¶Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.”
Psalms 23:4 AMP

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us]. For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:37-39 AMP

“By this we will know [without any doubt] that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart and quiet our conscience before Him whenever our heart convicts us [in guilt]; for God is greater than our heart and He knows all things [nothing is hidden from Him because we are in His hands]. Beloved, if our heart does not convict us [of guilt], we have confidence [complete assurance and boldness] before God; and we receive from Him whatever we ask because we [carefully and consistently] keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight [habitually seeking to follow His plan for us].”

And finally, one that rings in my ears. Jesus has just taught the people, his followers. Many left after this teaching, and I hear the humanity of Jesus.
“As a result of this many of His disciples abandoned Him, and no longer walked with Him. So Jesus said to the twelve [disciples], “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Simon Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You [alone] have the words of eternal life [you are our only hope]. We have believed and confidently trusted, and [even more] we have come to know [by personal observation and experience] that You are the Holy One of God [the Christ, the Son of the living God].””
John 6:66-69 AMP

So, let Peter’s words remind us just as Jesus’ question can ring very true. Where else would we go, friends? Only Jesus has the words of eternal life and hope. Peter and the rest of the twelve met the Holy One of God and though we may not understand all that is happening right now. There are times in our lives, maybe now, where we cling to this truth. When the storms are pounding, when life is a gut punch, there is nowhere else I want to go. So I remind my heart, and let me remind yours, hope is found only in Him.
