Welcome to my first blog on this site. I have to be finished with the yahoo 360 group and needed to find a way to allow family and friends to hear what was the latest with us.
My name is Cara and I am a Mom of four beautiful children. I am very grateful to have my husband, Joshua, Noah 8yrs, Danny 6 yrs, Luke 4 yrs, and Ella 3yrs. I have homeschooled Noah since he was preschool and now have begun homeschooling Danny. I plan to continue homeschooling as long as the Lord gives me His blessing.
I want to just jump in to the day today and as I go, I’ll fill in with what I can…okay? LOL.
This morning started as usual. Early! I am an early bird because my husband works an hour and a half away from our home. So my husband and I are usually up by 4:30 or 5am. Usually because I haven’t been sleeping all that well and sneak a little extra after he leaves. I am trying very hard to NOT do this because this is my time of quiet with the Lord. I have been so blessed by making this my first priority of the day. As this new year began, our church began a new journal with reading the Bible in one year and journaling with it. I have enjoyed this so much.
My kids are up between 6:30-7am on their own. We started with breakfast right away because everyone is just starving and can’t handle life without sustenance. Danny and Ella are both on anti-seizure meds because of staring seizures. Ella was just recently diagnosed and it has been many years of searching to find Danny’s diagnosis. So we are on a pretty tight schedule because the meds he is on must be given at a regular time without fail. Joshua works at Abbott Labs and the med is covered 100% by our prescription coverage. (it is made by Abbott…depakote)
Each child has a set of home blessings to accomplish right after breakfast. I’m also a HUGE Flylady fan. (www.flylady.net) Must get chores…I mean home blessings!! done by start of school. Noah is so good at getting his work done (math, grammar, Bible, handwriting, etc.) Danny has many learning difficulties and speech problems so we work very closely but since being on this new medication, I am seeing such positive changes. I am so excited to see him develop excitement about learning. Then we started our new unit on Discoverers and are reading this week about Leif Eriksson.
This lunch! I made broccoli/cauliflower/cheese soup for lunch with chips. Everyone ate heartily except Luke. sigh. Life is so hard. Sigh. He sat for an hour refusing to budge. Sigh. Noah and Danny helped me put away clothes and pick up the house in exchange for a half hour each of computer time. Works for them, works for me.
Then we were on our way to the YMCA for homeschool gym. This month is rock climbing. Great for Noah and Danny. Luke, Ella and I play basketball in the gym while they climbed. Great fun. Then home for naps, catching up with a friend and making dinner.
Joshua is very sick with a sinus infection so he is already in bed and I need to start working on kiddos getting into bed. Thank you for sharing this first blog with me. I’ll be back very soon to keep up to date!
Love,
Cara
