“But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, at an acceptable time; O God, in the greatness of Your lovingkindness, Answer me with Your saving truth. Deliver me from the mire and do not let me sink; May I be delivered from my foes and from the deep waters.”
Psalms 69:13-14 NASB1995
Prayers answered. This Psalm reminds me today to not only ask of God, but to remember His answers. It’s so very easy to pray our requests, ask others to pray for us, but when the answer comes, do we recognize it?
A prayer of mine for my children always has been for good friends. And it’s been a prayer for years. There have been years of drought for some of them and to look now, I see the fruit of these prayers. Thank you, Lord.
A friend has been praying for years to find a friend who has been lost to her. She found her this very week. The relief. The sorrow of lost years. Yet, God answered. Not in my friend’s timing, but in His.
We create lists of our friends’ requests in Bible studies, but we don’t usually go back and acknowledge for ourselves and others the answers!
Hearing the answers, the ways God has moved is so encouraging to us all. If we believe in His lovingkindness, know of His saving truth, let us share our requests with one another, but let us turn back and give thanks for the answers.
“Answer me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me, And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly. Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!”
Psalms 69:16-18 NASB1995
When I pray, I do not just want to list my requests, I want to recall to mind and therefore have hope. God’s lovingkindness is good. His compassion is great. He does not hide His face from us. He sees our distress. He does draw near to our soul. He redeems.
SO, in the deep sea and times of scarcity, let us look back and remember all the ways God has answered and moved, not only on our behalf, but those that we uphold in prayer.
