For months now, I have been told by news articles, posts, pictures, the cicadas are coming. Not just one type, two. Let me set the stage. When there is a bug in my house, there becomes a delineation of jobs. This is not my job to remove. We are all called but not all are chosen.
I hear that in different parts of the country, they have risen up from the dirt of the ground where they have been waiting for many years. Their time has come.
They are not here yet. So, I’m waiting. Devising plans of hats on my head and keeping my mouth closed. Never having windows or doors open. Those kind of small changes I hope will prepare me for the coming onslaught of evil and destruction.
I know I am not alone in my baseless fears as I see many are covering their trees with tulle in the hopes of saving their foliage. Wouldn’t that be locusts? Obviously I am not an expert on entomology.
A late addition: we were driving past one of the Lake County forest preserves recently. They have an upcoming program named: Celebrating Cicadas. They must feel that there are people out there that share their enthusiasm for the things. So, that’s the thing.
Anyway, so we are waiting.
In this season of waiting, I had one of those nights last night where the fears of the unknown overwhelmed. This owning I am teary and tired. Now in the light of day, I remember and call this to mind.

““Truly, [the hope of salvation from] the hill [where idols are worshiped] is a deception, A tumult and noisy multitude on the mountains; Truly in the Lord our God Is the salvation of Israel.”

When my eyes look to the hills for solutions that are Cara-made (it’s a thing ) or man made, I find the roots do not run very deep. My solutions have a lot of me and not so much my Heavenly Father. GAAAAA!!! The waiting! I get so focused on the stress of not knowing, not seeing the future that this becomes my focus.
Reading this Psalm this morning reminds me. Praise first. Everything changes when I bless His name. I heard a song on Friday for the first time and now it’s on repeat. I’ll end with this.
