Good morning! A new day in which we can take our focus off ourselves and walk into a church, lift our hands up and praise the One who makes…
Everything Glorious :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuGRaCrg9hE .
And then one that was prayed over me yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU3qSrpC4jo&feature=related Amen!
Before we begin with the verse, I want to give you the definition of discipline.
Here’s the free dictionary’s def: discipline:Training and control of oneself and one’s conduct, usually for personal improvement. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/self-discipline
Discipline: from sophron, lit., “saving the mind,” from saos, “contracted to” sos, “safe” (cp. sozo, “to save”), phren, “the mind,” primarily, “an admonishing or calling to soundness of mind, or to self-control,” is used in 2Ti 1:7, an admonishing or calling to soundness of mind, to moderation and self-control
Can I just be honest here? I have never had such a problem starting this prayer focus as today! I want to just confess to you all that I am struggling with this verse set. I keep looking at discipline and it seems to me that Paul means something so much deeper than my simplistic idea of what self discipline means. I cannot get past these two definitions! I see that to Paul this word meant to control your mind, keep your mind in check..the idea of
taking every thought captive for Christ.
(2 Cor. 10:5) And here is your humble writer telling you..I’m having real trouble with this! I had quiet this morning with my cuppa and then the dog started barking and then everyone was up! Now i have a bunch of people wondering what’s for breakfast, wanting to go out and play in the snow (where’s my stuff, Mom..) Argh! My “taking every thought captive” is a battle today. Church was a challenge for me last night…I didn’t want that.
And here I am! And I am remembering the songs I gave you in the beginning of this letter. And guess what? The Spirit is moving and I feel alive again and able to focus. Thank you, Lord! Take my thoughts and consecrate them. Forgive me for my restlessness and may my confession be helpful and made glorious in Your eyes.
So, here is the verse: 2 Timothy 1:7 For God (spoken of the only and true God, refers to the things of God, his counsels, interests, things due to him,) did not give (to give something to some, one of one’s own accord to give one something, to his advantage to bestow a gift ) us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power (“power, ability,” physical or moral, as residing in a person or thing;)and of love ( affection, good will, love, benevolence, brotherly love) and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. All of the italicized in this verse are from www.blb.org and are the Greek definitions of the words.
Here are the surrounding verses in 2 Timothy 1:
7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
8Do not blush or be ashamed then, to testify to and for our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for His sake, but [[d]with me] take your share of the suffering [to which the preaching] of the Gospel [may expose you, and do it] in the power of God.
9[For it is He] Who delivered and saved us and called us with a calling in itself holy and leading to holiness [to a life of consecration, a vocation of holiness]; [He did it] not because of anything of merit that we have done, but because of and to further His own purpose and grace (unmerited favor) which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago].
10[It is that purpose and grace] which He now has made known and has fully disclosed and made real [to us] through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, Who annulled death and made it of no effect and brought life and immortality (immunity from eternal death) to light through the Gospel.

Here are the lyrics to Love Come to Life:
I’ve been restless on the inside
wondering about this heart of mine
I’ve been desperately trying to find
a way to prove that I’m still alive
Has the love I speak so loudly of
quietly grown cold
Is my life been an empty voice
what I sing needs to be seen
I need to step out and make the choice
to let go of everything
Would you reignite this heart spark here in the dark
Bring your love to life inside of me
Why don’t you break my heart ’til it moves my hands and feet
For the hopeless and the broken
for the ones that don’t know that you love them
Bring your love to life inside of me
The generation you’re calling out
living everything we sing about
The revelation right here and now
love beyond the shadow of the doubt
Love that is greater than our own
won’t remain unknown
When you bring your love to life inside of me
Why don’t you break my heart ’til it moves my hands and feet
For the hopeless and the broken
for the ones that don’t know that you love them
Bring your love to life inside of me
Chorus:
love to come life
love to come life
bring love to life inside me (repeat 3x)
Bring your love to life inside of me
Why don’t you break my heart ’til it moves my hands and feet
For the hopeless and the broken
for the ones that don’t know that you love them
Bring your love to life inside of me
Bring your love to life inside of me
Why don’t you break my heart ’til it moves my hands and feet
For the hopeless and the broken
for the ones that don’t know that you love them
Bring your love to life inside of me
love to come life
love to come life
bring love to life inside me (repeat 3x)
I’m out! Love come to life inside of you, your spouse and your family! Praise Him! He is so wonderful!
