I’m staring at my puppy today, who is trying to find a comfortable position on my couch. It’s a difficult job, but she’s up to the challenge today, we hope. As she shifts, moves, nudges, she turns to look at me, to make sure I’m still here and then drifts back off to puppy dreamland. When I move, she’ll need to follow me just in case I do something exciting like make food, go outside, take a walk. The list goes on and on. She trusts me implicitly to care for her every need and depends on me. My whole family depends on her for love and barking at stray plastic bags that fly by the outside window.
She’s been our pup for ten years. I’m not going to say much more about that, but we love her. Pet owners get this statement.
Last night, as I struggled with sleep, thinking about the next steps (which is NOT what I’m supposed to do), I was reminded of my pup. Her trust in me. She knows I won’t fail her. She just follows me. Sits by me and waits by me until I move. That’s a good reminder for me today.
I have today. I need to trust my God for this moment. I don’t have to be concerned about my tomorrow. I need to make sure I’m making today happen. I’m sitting with Jesus this morning. I’m waiting on him. I’m going to worship.
16 May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality], 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love, 18 be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love]; 19 and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself]. Ephesians 3: 17-19 AMP
Be strengthened in him with his power through his Spirit today. May Christ dwell in your heart. Faith. Root deep. May you understand his love for you. Profound love. We can’t even grasp the depth.
So, no matter what you face today, whatever the news brings, whatever our next step, we are not alone. We are never alone.
Start here, in this moment, tomorrow will come. Today is the gift we have, so be present here.
Peace.
