My puppy every morning has all the confidence in the world to embark upon the adventure of her walk. For this reason, she watches me and waits for movement. In fact, right now, she is eyeing me.
Thus, I think of her confidence every morning as I read these verses in Psalm 119. Clearly, she is ready to start, ready to walk, her spirit wants to walk the whole way. Yet, a mile in her body is done. Owing to she is getting old, the humidity is getting to her and she lies down to rest. My sweet buddy wants so much to be with me and yet her body can’t do what it used to do.
Psalm 119:73-88
Moreover, when I approach my walk with Christ and say to myself, I can do this. Surely, I make the same mistake my dog does. Again,I do not understand my limits. Decidedly, Starburst’s limits have become more and more obvious.
I need the Spirit of Christ moving through my life, the word of Christ. My approach to life, my outlook must rest on these truths. So, I begin with asking the Lord.
- “…give me understanding…”vs. 73
- May your faithful love comfort me…vs.76
- May your compassion come to me…vs. 77
- May my heart be blameless…vs. 88
“I put my hope in your word.”vs. 74, 81
Again, I declare the truth of his word over my life and over my family. Every morning and every night. “I do not forget your statutes…”vs.83
We wait for him. The arrogant were encroaching upon David’s life and trying to ruin. Yet, David kept declaring the promises of God over his life and his circumstances.
Contrast
The contrasts of how the righteous handle the word of God and the arrogant cannot be overlooked. Instruction to David is “his delight” and to the arrogant it has been “violated”.
Let us continue towards the truth and towards his truth. The solid rock of Christ, “do not forget his statutes” vs. 83. Those against the truth will not be forever.
As I put my shoes on today to walk, I know my little buddy won’t understand the shortened walk. I do. We do not understand all that is happening in our life today. As Matt Chandler says, we get God. Today, embrace this truth. Through all that is happening in your life today, we get God. Living with him is far superior with his words than apart from him.
Peace.
