Didja feel like dancing? 😉 On a day when I didn’t sleep, I need to be reminded it is a good morning. It is a great day. And I am so blessed by what I am learning and how God is moving in my life. So it is a good morning.
I hope to work a little more this morning on what the Lord started revealing to me yesterday. I want more of Him. Yesterday, I did so often let go of me..not all the time..but I kept those verses from Luke running through me and I even talked my kids through them.
Luke 9:23:
Amplified Bible (AMP)
23And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].
When I am going through rough times, is my response to focus on why me? What did I do? Why is God punishing me? Etc..etc..
1 Corinthians 10: 5[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
Lysa TerKeurst: Made to Crave
We can literally say to a comment or a though that presents itself to us, ” Are you true? Are you beneficial? Are you necessary?” And if the answer is no, then we don’t open the door of our heart. We make the choice to walk away from the comment and all the negative thoughts it could harvest if we let it in.
And then having my children say to me, Mommy can you always be like this? What’s different Mommy?
Ouch. Big ouch. I lift up my hands and say, I want myself in the background. I want You in the foreground. I want to cleave t You steadfastly and with hope.
Can you see the single footprint?
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you.”
