Good morning to you all,
Well, I can say with confidence we made it through the day yesterday. It started with getting to the train with one minute to spare. Breather. Ella and Danny enjoyed the train ride for the first 20 minutes and then got bored. Really bored. I brought books, toys, etc. but they just wanted to get there. It was a long ride 70 minutes long. Geneva (where my parents live) is a long way from downtown Chi-town. Then we took a cab and I have prayed passionately and constantly before but it was the Lord that kept me from melting down. He got on the Eisenhower expressway (unnecessary) and proceeded to try to cross four lanes of highway to get off. I was holding onto the kids like crazy. Danny kept trying to push my hand off. Oh my. We did get there in one piece. We were early so we went to the cafeteria which actually, at Rush, is pretty good. LOL. And got some snacks. Then, because we were sitting at a table and there was food in front of us, Danny and Ella both needed to go the the bathroom. (It’s a strange phenomenon in our family, happens at every meal, especially when they don’t like what they have been served, go figure.) So trooped to the bathroom, my Dad held fort at the table. I took Ella and gave Danny strict instructions to wait for me outside the bathroom door when he was done. Ella went in one stall, I in another…she finished and took off. Literally. I hustled to get out of my stall but a woman called in to the bathroom anyone have a girl..she’s running down the hallway. AAHH!! When I got out there, she was standing right outside the door looking angelic and had a perfect look on her face. What, Mom? I’m here?
So then on to the appointment, Buhrfiend was late. Ella played through her toys quickly and then was just sitting. Standing. Hopping. Climbing over chairs. Finally, it was Ella’s turn. Did you know that you can wash your hands for a half hour? And still want for more? Yes, ladies and gentleman, Ella washed her hands, washed the sink, opened and closed the garbage can (opened by a pedal with your foot), dumped a cup of water down the heating vent, ripped out all of the kleenex, colored the examination table, took Dr. Buhrfiend’s pen and then it was time for Danny’s appointment. Ella came out with me to get Danny, took a hold of his hand and led him to the room. Then proceeded to repeat the same process as listed previously with Danny watching and encouraging. Then, she got tired of it all, got hungry and started to throw a fit. Joy!
Well, we left the doctor’s office at 1pm and Dad wanted to try for the train at 1:40pm and also eat lunch at Corner Bakery. So we raced over, safely I might add, to Ogilivie station and up to the Corner Bakery where I couldn’t find anything that Ella could eat. (allergy to wheat). So I got her a salad. That she needed to eat in 10 minutes. HAHA! So we ran to the train with, yet again, one minute to spare and settled in with a sticker book purchase for each. Great for the first 20 minutes. Then, Danny looked like his was going to be sick, told dad we gotta get off the train when all the people in the train directed me to the potty on board! Came out after getting Danny cleaned up and Ella proceeded to have a bloody nose. So I just kept doing what I did all day to remain in control…I kept praying. I keep singin. We kept at the sticker books. It’s kind of interesting to be on a train, you know, no privacy, so everyone watched me juggle the fun.
Well, we did arrive home safely…the temperature began to drop rapidly. It went from spring weather in the morning to a winter snowstorm in the evening. Amazing! Mom and Dad took the kids and I to dinner. It was lovely after Ella and Luke took a good nap.
Then, I went to bed early. Joshua went home, thankfully, because our produce which is delivered on tuesday was sitting on the porch. My husband came home, after faxing in the information to the man with the home in Prospect Heights…I love that man. I know I am going home to a clean house today.
I am grateful that Buhrfiend just wants to keep everyone status quo. No new news for either of the kids. She didn’t say one thing about the Ella hurricane. Nothing. I’m thankful for my parents helping me so much. For all of your prayers. For life. For our children.
God bless you and your day. Mine are up now…must go.
Love,
Cara
