Think with me the last time you heard someone cry out. Maybe they fell, or maybe they bonked their knee. Maybe it was a goofy small dog who wanted to go to a room that was closed off. Or maybe you heard a baby cry. This very act alerts us a need. Can we help? Can we do something?
I have thinking a great deal upon this word, cry. And I am embarking on a study, not sure how long, to walk through the word of God and look at this in depth, starting today.
Exodus 2:23-25
”Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God. So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them.“

I have sat here after reading this with questions and comments in my mind. The sons of Israel cried and God heard their cries. Timeline on this verse perplexes me as I know for certain God HAD been hearing their cries. It’s not as if He JUST heard them now. I’m going to need to do a little work on that.
So, in my own stuff, remembering to trust, even when an answer isn’t forthcoming or pain alleviated, there isn’t a timeline of when God started listening to me. He always has…i get a little in my head.
I recently had a conversation with a friend who asked where was God in…fill in the blank. It didn’t make sense. If God could move and He didn’t, why. I think the mystery of God’s timing can cause people to stumble. We see death or destruction or horrors and we want God to move in the way we see fit. I can’t offer many answers, but the more I walk in this life, I choose to trust Him for what I do not understand.
Psalm 146:5-10
”How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever; Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous; The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!“

So, in my questions or yours, seeking first His kingdom. Seeking and praying for His help. Remembering to see the author of spring and snow and sunshine, He is in control. By continuing to pray about the same things that have not been answered, I am seeking relationship with the Lord. When I worship, even though I haven’t gotten my heart here yet, I still acknowledge the Lord is here. He is worthy to be praised.
The Lord sets. Opens. Raises up. Loves. Protects. Supports. Thwarts. Reigns.
God knows my needs right now. He knows yours. Why hasn’t God moved in…fill in the blank? He hasn’t YET. I choose to keep asking. Bringing my pain to His feet. Knowing He has heard my cry. He answered the sons of Israel. He will answer me.
And you.
