When I walk, for some unknown reason, I find myself pointing my head down, focused on the road. Finding myself, many times, staring intently at the potholes, grass and pebbles. Allow me to report this is when the walk becomes long and I become irritated with my cute dog. The cold becomes too cold. My shoes bother me, the wind is too windy.
Short-sighted
Without a doubt, my gaze has become short-sighted. As soon as I reach an intersection, I must lift my eyes and an internal conversation occurs, allowing for readjusting. My spiritual walk similarly moves and it is easy for me to focus my eyes on me. Every time I do, the cares of the world become overwhelming.
Psalm 33
Today, when I was reading in the Psalms, a gentle reminder prodded me.
13 The Lord looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men;
14 From His dwelling place He looks out
On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who fashions [c]the hearts of them all,
He who understands all their works.
16 The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A horse is a false hope for victory;
Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength.18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who [d]hope for His lovingkindness, (italics mine)

Reminders
Here’s what the Lord reminded me today.
- He looks down from heaven
- He observes
- He gazes on all the inhabitants
- He alone shapes the hearts
- He considers their works
- His eye is on those who fear him
- His eye is on those who depend on his faithful love
Fix my eyes
I’m not saved by a large army, or great strength, or false hope. Clearly, just as many times God tells me, daughter, fix your eyes on me. He is saying here, I have fixed my eyes on you. Without a doubt, what you are walking through today, you do not walk alone.
Today
It is a big, bright, beautiful world, as Shrek says. And so, today, what corner of it today will I serve and love today for Jesus?
Peace.
