Our cat that adopted us is an outdoor cat. He sits at the door and whines to be let out. I’m a meanie and have not let him out in this weather we have been under. Snow, cold, etc. When it warms up, though, we let him go. And here’s the beautiful thing about this cat. He trusts us implicitly. He comes in after being gone and knows, well, that we will always let him in, but more than that, we will always feed him. There will always be a warm spot to nap and we will always grab him up and cuddle him. Haha.
In the final verses of 1 John 3, he reminds us of what we know to be true, in our hearts. When we stop the brain circling, we listen to the truth. Declare it over ourselves. Just as our little cat knows for certain we will care for him, we know God knows all things and loves us.
“By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.”

This is a word for me today. We are of the truth. We can be reassured of the truth. I can’t get Milo out of my head as I write this morning. He just trusts us . And may that be an encouragement for our hearts, we can trust God even more. He is always with me. He will never forsake me. He always loves me.
We belong to him, friend. Satan loves to whisper and condemn. God is not condemning us. God is greater than our worries, fears. He knows all things. And he is greater. Let us have confidence before him. Let us hold tight to our confidence.
God answers prayers. We ask in his name and according to his will. I’ve been putting my prayer requests on post-it notes and today I went back and saw all these answers. It made me more aware. It convicted me.
Believe in his name, beloved. Love one another. It’s all summed up right here. And this is my prayer today. Lord, help me keep your commands and live and walk in the truth. Thank you for your Spirit who lives in us. I know you are here.
