Good morning, beloved,
There is something very appealing to me about this picture above. I’m trying to put my finger on it. Maybe it is the colors. Or maybe it is the mighty black buildings surrounding the tiny white sailboats protectively.. Or the landscape that seems to go on forever and ever…Or maybe even to my untrained eye I can see the photographer to this picture behind glass so we can see another picture within his picture…who knows?
When I look at a picture, when I describe something, when I teach something, I dig into my understanding that comes from my lenses in life. How I grew up, how I lived, where I went to school, my church, friends, my surroundings shaped much of how I see the world. My worldview. As an adult, my worldview has been consciously reshaped by a deepening understanding of the Bible and what God has to say to me through His word. I cannot help but think about my lenses when I look at David’s pen in the Psalms. Seriously. His life was SO different from mine. Yet he loved the same God. He hurt. He cried. He understood loneliness. His ideas of refuges looked much different then mine.
6He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved.
7With God rests my salvation and my glory; He is my Rock of unyielding strength and impenetrable hardness, and my refuge is in God!
8Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
Whatever your lenses in life may be..God is your salvation (your deliverance). He is your Rock. All of those worries, those cares, those hardships..mercy, you’ve got to give them wholeheartedly to Him.
I love this verse…it’s at the last supper but it shows a beautiful picture to me of the care and love that the disciples had for Jesus…John 13:23One of His disciples, whom Jesus loved [whom He esteemed and delighted in], was reclining [next to Him] on Jesus’ bosom. Lean on Jesus, friends. Wholeheartedly!
Pray on, pray on!!
