Light

Good morning, my friends,

What a blessing to proclaim His goodness and His Word this morning! Allow me to share a song..

Light…if you gaze upon this picture I shared of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, notice the lack of stars. It is night and yet, the lights all around crowd out the darkness. The horizon itself is lit up by the lights of the city.

Think of the ways God is light to us..

He made the light on the third day of creation: Genesis 1

¹⁴And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs and tokens [of God’s provident care], and [to mark] seasons, days, and years,^(C)

¹⁵And let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light upon the earth. And it was so.

¹⁶And God made the two great lights–the greater light (the sun) to rule the day and the lesser light (the moon) to rule the night. He also made the stars.

¹⁷And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth,

¹⁸To rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good (fitting, pleasant) and He approved it.

He was light to the Israelites in the desert..Exodus 13

²⁰They journeyed from Succoth and encamped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.

²¹The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.

²²The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.

This next passage is exciting. You NEED to read Job 38-40. You ever crave the voice of the Lord? Here it is..answering Job.. Job 38

¹⁸Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know it all.

¹⁹Where is the ^[a]way where light dwells? And as for darkness, where is its abode,

²⁰That you may conduct it to its home, and may know the paths to its house?

²¹You must know, since you were born then! Or because you are so extremely old! (even God uses a little sarcasm..;) )

The footnote for this passage:

Job 38:19 How, except by divine inspiration, could Job have known that light does not dwell in a place, but a way? For light, as modern man has discovered, involves motion (wave motion). Traveling 186,000 miles a second, it can only dwell in a way.

Oh, friends, He knows! He knows. Psalm27

¹THE LORD is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?

²When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

³Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, [even then] in this will I be confident.

To finish, beloved, He is your light. He will shine in your darkness. And darkness is as light to our God and Abba (daddy). Oh, beloved, Psalm 139

¹⁰Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.

¹¹If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me and the night shall be [the only] light about me,

¹²Even the darkness hides nothing from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You.^(A)

He made the light. Ask Him to light your path. Ask Him to be your light as you walk your path He has set before you. And now to finish, may this be the cry of our hearts today!
