I had one of those days recently for me, where tears fall easily and fears threaten to overwhelm. I prayed for interactions with the DMV before we went in, specifically. People in line were sure we didn’t have the right documents or right payment method. I began to spiral. I began to cry.
I had given God this entire time in the DMV. I prayed specifically. Now, it was my turn to trust and be still. Chatter around me threatened. Signs on the walls made me question. Yet, when it came to our interactions with the employees, they were helpful, kind and every prayer I prayed was answered. It was the MIDDLE, the waiting that preaches to me today.
In Genesis 1, day 1 God made the light and called it day. God separated the light from the darkness. the darkness was called night. Day 2 was separation of water and sky. Day 3 was dry land, seas, plants, trees. Vegetation. Day 4 sun, moon, stars. (Genesis 1:1-19)
Hang on. God made the light on day 1 and day 3 was our light today? Three days with no sun, moon or stars, which means only one thing. God was the light. God illuminated the space. God’s light was MORE than enough for this universe He was creating.
Now jump to the every end of our Bible.
“I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty [the Omnipotent, the Ruler of all] and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon to give light to it, for the glory (splendor, radiance) of God has illumined it, and the Lamb is its lamp and light. The nations [the redeemed people from the earth] will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring into it their glory.”
Revelation 21:22-24 AMP

There will come a day where we will need no light. God and the Lamb (Jesus) will be sufficient. More than enough. A day to look towards. It is coming.
We live here. We live in the middle waiting. Yet, the word of God tells us truth that we can hold.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation— Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life— Whom shall I dread? One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.”

The truth is for you. For me. to be shared. Memorized. You could do a google search and ask for verses about God being our light. Here, today, reminding my heart that God does truly hear us. He answers our prayers. the smalls such as clarity for work, finding a wallet. To the bigs, strength in the middle, healing, next steps in our life and everything in between.
Illuminate our path, Lord. You are our light and our deliverance. I have nothing to fear. I hear your counsel of your presence being with me. I have no need to dread. This prayer, right here, David asking to be in your house, in your presence all the days of my life. To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, rather than keep looking this way and that. Fix my gaze. My thoughts, my mediation be on you, on your word, and on truth.
Peace, friend. He is our light.
