I walked today while it was still dark and my glasses were foggy. As I look out now, there is no sun, only gray clouds. My approach to my day can be marred by the weather, not only mood related, but also with pain. The Lord is teaching me what a battlefield my mind can be. Where do I turn when I wake up with fear? Where do I turn when I dread? Where do I turn when I’m frustrated? Oh my soul, turn first to the word of life. I’m still studying this morning the theme of waking in the Bible, using my Dwell app.
“Open to me the [temple] gates of righteousness; I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord; The righteous will enter through it. I will give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; And You have become my salvation [my Rescuer, my Savior]. The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone. This is from the Lord and is His doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. This [day in which God has saved me] is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

I begin with thanks. I begin with remembering my day previous and giving thanks for it. I’m thankful for gifts like a new job for my son. Time with my children. Community and friends. When I start with my thanks, my day already has blessing. The Psalmist gives thanks for being heard, for answering. Yes, he hears my cries. He hears my pleas. He knows:
“Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken], Behold, O Lord, You know it all.”

He knows my thoughts. He is my Rescuer and my Savior. Think of what changes in our minds when we declare truth over and over to our minds. God does love you. God loves you right where you are. You are made worthy by the blood of Christ. He came so that you might live today, abundantly. Christ is our chief cornerstone. He is the rock.

This day. This very day. This is a day made by the Lord. Think on that for just a moment. Everything is spinning as it should. The sun has come up again. the Psalmist says to rejoice and be glad. Maybe your circumstances are difficult, I understand this, this is when my broken hallelujah comes. It may be full of tears, choking my song at times, but God is still moving. This is what I trust. This is my hope. It can never be in my circumstances. I keep pointing my face, my body to Christ.
He has my heart. He is my only hope. Find me at the feet of Jesus.

I thought I would get through more, but this is enough today.
