“And Mary said, “My soul magnifies and exalts the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has looked [with loving care] on the humble state of His maidservant; For behold, from now on all generations will count me blessed and happy and favored by God! For He who is mighty has done great things for me; And holy is His name [to be worshiped in His purity, majesty, and glory]. And His mercy is upon generation after generation Toward those who [stand in great awe of God and] fear Him. He has done mighty deeds with His [powerful] arm; He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart. He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And exalted those who were humble. He has filled the hungry with good things; And sent the rich away empty-handed. He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, Just as He promised to our fathers, To Abraham and to his descendants forever.””
Luke 1:46-55 AMP
The angel, Gabriel, pronounced over Mary, earlier in chapter 1, that she was highly favored, the Lord was with her and she was blessed. Friend, we have this same pronouncement over us.
You are highly favored. The Lord is with you. You are blessed.
As I write this, my spirit struggles a bit. I wonder if, right now, in my present circumstances, if I have done something wrong. This is why I posted these verses of praise today. Mary’s praise.
I can’t help but think Mary might have been a bit terrified with all of this. Her circumstances were scary. who would take care of her? Where would she go from public criticism? Etc. Etc.
Instead, she sings. She turns her face towards heaven and worships, even in the unknown. I have lessons to learn here. My version of Mary’s praise:
My heart worships today in the majesty of my God. I move my spirit to recognize my Savior. I am looked on with favor. Lord, I ask to be humble and receive. Lord, may my family and friends look at me and called me blessed. No matter the circumstances. YOU have done such great things for me. Your name IS holy. Your mercy is with each generation. What a mercy. What a grace. Lord, you look at the heart. I look at the outside…you look straight to heart. Every time. Any instance in Scripture where I wonder, why grace here? You answer that you look at the heart. You exalt those who have nothing. You love and care for the widows and the orphans. For those who hunger, please fill their stomachs. You are our help. You remember your promises.
Something always changes when I bless your name.
Today, I face unknowns. I have phone calls that I need to make. I have a list. I go into a work environment that is not safe. Pain is plaguing me. My answer is found here. In worship. In praise. I believe this. I declare this.
This is something I am trying to rest in. Allow the Holy SPirit to guide. Not me. to not be afraid of the day ahead. I know God is with me. God is with me. God is with me.
My broken hallelujah.
