Good morning, beloved,
This time change is wrecking havoc on me. Mercy. Then not having my phone. And not being able to find my kindle cord. Sigh..
I longed to be in church again Saturday night. It was one of those things where I was driving there anticipating, praying it through, hoping it through.It was baptism night. What a glorious night. I love freedom nights.
Darren Whitehead’s message can be found at willowcreek.org in the bottom right corner. Yet for those of you that won’t listen to the whole message or don’t have the time, I picked apart his life verse section by section finding all the Hebrew words. I have been spending some time thinking about it.
I want to share a couple of different versions of the same verse because I think they sound very different…
Habakkuk 3: 2
2 LORD, I have heard the report about You and I fear.
O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years,
In the midst of the years make it known;
In wrath remember mercy.(NASB)
2O Lord, I have heard the report of You and was afraid. O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make [Yourself] known! In wrath [earnestly] remember love, pity, and mercy.(AMP)
2 LORD, I have heard of your fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD.
Renew them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy. (NIV)
When people talk about these great stories about the God of the past, and they have no stories of their own, it is hard to hold onto their faith, isn’t it?
Lord, I have heard (shama-listen, obey) the report(shema-report, hearing) about You and I fear (yare-revere, be afraid)…
The stories were passed down, the generation upon generation did their job by telling the children and their children’s children the stories of old but their relationship with the living God needed a living relationship.
O Lord revive (chayah-to live, have life, be restored) Your work (po’al-deed, thing doing) in the midst (qereb-among, inner part, middle) of the years (shaneh-division of time)..
Did you catch what H just did? He has asked God to move! He has asked God to do something in their midst that He hadn’t done in a long time. Or maybe HE moved but they hadn’t paid attention…
Make (yada-to know, percieve) it known (yada-all for His fame) in wrath (rogez-excitement, raging, trouble, turmoil) remember (zakar-call to mind, recall) mercy (racham-to love, love deeply, have mercy, be compassionate, have tender affection, have compassion).
So, Lord, in my life today, I declare Your great name ! That Your glory may be revealed today in my life. Would You do what You do in my life today?
The greatest tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, buy unoffered prayer.-F.B. Meyer
Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure. – D. L. Moody
I have seen many men work without praying, though I have never seen any good come out of it; but I have never seen a man pray without working. – Hudson Taylor
