Today we focus our hearts and minds on salvation..ours and our spouses.
The prayer focus verse:
Romans 6:23(AMP)23For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord.
I don’t think it is a bad idea to remember what we have been rescued from (or praying for our spouse to be rescued from)..and these following verses talk about how God views sin…
Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—
This, of course is Adam..the one man and thru what this couple chose..death came into this world through the sin and then this death/sin spread like a virus..all have sinned. A choice: a decision…what they chose by walking to the tree, choosing to disregard what the Lord had said in..
Gen 2:17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”
I have been reading a book by Covey, Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families and one thing that just keeps running through my mind is this:There is freedom between the stimulus and the reaction. And just as Adam and Eve saw the temptation/stimulus and chose their reaction..they had freedom in their choice. God gave them freedom. Hope that makes sense. One last verse combo…
1Corinthians 6: 9Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,
10Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.
Salvation! Thank God for salvation and all it brings…
Romans 6:16Nor is the free gift at all to be compared to the effect of that one [man’s] sin. For the sentence [following the trespass] of one [man] brought condemnation, whereas the free gift [following] many transgressions brings justification ([j]an act of righteousness).
17For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

So, wow, when our second Adam came, Jesus, the free gift is incomparable to the first Adam’s sin! 1st Adam brought condemnation, death yet Jesus, look what He brought! Justification (big word I know but here’s the def: the act of God declaring men free from guilt and acceptable to him), God’s overflowing grace and the gift of justice/righteousness…and we reign. What a beautiful gift wrapped up in Jesus..and the most beautiful part, this was a plan from the moment sin entered the world..LOVE IT!
So praying for our spouse whether a Christian yet or not, involves much praise on our part for all that we have and remembering. One of the greatest forms of worship! Remembering and trusting our spouse into His hands…
