Last night was our Thanksgiving Eve service at church. We sang such beautiful songs and I was in the choir. What a blast! Just to sing my heart out to the Lord. what a blessing. Songs like, I will remember, Unto the King, Great is Thy Faithfulness filled the pews with praise. The church was nearly packed and it was so good to be in His presence.
We had some time to reflect on Psalm 103:1-5
A Psalm of David.
1(A)Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His (B)holy name.
2Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And (C)forget none of His benefits;
3Who (D)pardons all your iniquities,
Who (E)heals all your diseases;
4Who (F)redeems your life from the pit,
Who (G)crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
5Who (H)satisfies your [a]years with good things,
So that your youth is (I)renewed like the eagle.
What began as a hard quiet for me ( just couldn’t quiet my heart) began a beautiful revelation to me.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. I think about what is within me and I realize that I am empty. Or actually I am filled with vain ambition, selfish pride…so how can I come before Him?
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. He asks us to begin our time with Him by remembering. I will remember the works of His hands. We will stop and give Him praise for great is His faithfulness!
Cleansing: Who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases; This is His process. He begins by cleansing us. He does the work. He asks us to remember and stop and then He begins the cleansing process!
Filling: Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness (covenant word between God and His people) and compassion; who satisfies (what do I long for God to satisfy?) your years with good things, After He cleanses me, He then can fill me. He redeems me, crowns me and satisfies.
Renewal! : so that your youth is renewed like the eagle. So the process is complete. It begins with me coming to Him…blesses the Lord, remembering and then He takes over. He is the One. He takes over and does the rest. And we end up being renewed.
I hope that blesses you as it has blessed me. Happy Thanksgiving. How grateful I am to God for all of His blessings.
