This picture expertly illustrates my life. I’m at one tip and I can see only what is right in front of me. I can’t see but the square in front of me. I get overwhelmed. There are all these damn bends and widening of the river and I can never tell what is coming. However, this image is my picture of Jesus looking at my life. He has the horizon view.
And He sees it completely differently.
Jesus is over it all. He sees all. Knows all. Remembers this girl is dust and loves me anyway. I spent some time chatting today and some different theories came up today. What is the most important? What grounds us? What brings us stability? I heard each say something a little different. Community. Teaching (Going to church). The Word. Prayer.
I’m in Hebrews today. I’ve been sitting in Hebrews 5 & 6.
11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are so ·slow to understand [hard of hearing; C spiritually]. 12 By now you should be teachers, but you need someone to teach you again the ·first lessons [elementary truths; basic principles] of God’s ·message [revelation; oracles]. You still need ·the teaching that is like milk [L milk]. You are not ready for solid food. 13 [L For] Anyone who lives on milk is still a baby and ·knows nothing about [or is unskilled/inexperienced with] ·right teaching [or the message about righteousness]. 14 But solid food is for those who are ·grown up [mature]. ·They are mature enough […who through practice/exercise have trained their faculties/senses] to know the difference between good and evil.
For me, personally, it begins with the word of God. Knowing the word of God, having passages in my mind, writing passages down daily, taking passages apart and knowing what they mean. Pinterest (I’ve just linked my Pinterest). I linked my Bible study Pinterest links. Start digging yourself. Start asking the Holy Spirit at the beginning of your time with Him.
Prayer. Prayer and me. Prayer is like a constant conversation. Somebody comes up in my mind? Prayer. I start to get frustrated with someone? (I’m sure that’s just me.) Prayer.
NOT another to-do list, discipline in my life to bring me stability.
Okay, I’m going to go out on a limb here. Crazy time. I know. This article came across my face this morning and I’m going to tell you. I really, really appreciate it. Maybe it will help you.

Okay, back to my picture. So, to wrap up this post, friend. Are we not glad that Jesus looks over our life and sees us in the middle of our stuff and says, I have a plan. I have a purpose. It is good. It is all. I am all. You need only trust, which leads me to:
Hebrews 6
17 God wanted to ·make very clear [demonstrate convincingly] to ·those who would get what he promised [L the heirs of the promise] that his ·purposes [or plans] never change, so he ·made [L confirmed/guaranteed it with] an oath. 18 These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he makes a promise, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. These things greatly encourage us, who ·came [L have fled] to God for safety, to hold on to the hope ·we have been given [L set before us]. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for ·the soul [our lives], ·sure [stable; secure] and ·strong [reliable; unshifting]. It enters behind the curtain in the ·Most Holy Place in heaven [L inner place/sanctuary], 20 where Jesus has gone ·ahead of us [L as a forerunner] ·and for us [on our behalf]. He has become the high priest forever, a priest like Melchizedek [Ps. 110:4; Heb. 5:6, 10; 7:1–17].
So, God makes very clear. We are the heirs of the promise of Jesus. The promise of heaven. Here’s the thing about Jesus and evangelism to me. We are not just spending our time winning people to Christ so they will be in heaven (though that is a very, very good reason.) We behave and model ourselves after Christ, serving others sacrificially, because this is our calling, our life.
God never lies. Think about that for a moment. Ponder that truth. He will never, ever lie. Every word in His WORD is truth. He says, do not fear. He says I will never leave you. You can bank on these words. You can trust. You can be greatly encouraged by these words. Yes, I flee to God for safety. I hold onto to God because He has been found faithful and worthy of my hope. As my friend says, The Anchor Holds, through it all. The Anchor Holds. Thank You, Jesus. The Anchor Holds.
Jesus has gone before us and on our behalf. The writer of Hebrews has also gone before us. He knows this as truth and sight. Someday it will be my truth and my sight.
The Anchor Holds. He holds onto you. He holds onto me. Oh, I am so grateful for this truth today. May it bless you as well.
Peace.
