Good morning beloved,
Well, we took the cast off Noah and he is now in the boot. This boy is doing great. He is walking around and just went to get the paper. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you so much. 🙂 He is becoming quite the card player as well. Both sets of grandparents have honed in him a love of cards. Right now, he can’t get enough of Bridge. So every chance he gets to ask, he wants to play. After a time with his grandparents in Florida, it is International Rummy.
Tonight begins the Olympics, not that this is a shock to anyone but I’m not a huge t.v. sports fan. However, when the Olympics jump on the air, I’m transfixed. I’ll have to figure some way to watch. Joshua, I think, doesn’t know what to do with my “need” to watch all the time. As I’m sure I’ve written before, otherwise, not a t.v. watcher. I dread the thought of all the ridiculous commercials…Hebrews 11: 1“Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,”
Well, let’s dive back into the Lord’s prayer. I would say, as I begin, if you have kids, Precepts has a wonderful study you can do with them called, Lord, Teach Me to Pray for Kids. I know I go on and on about Precepts, but the variety of options! I love this Bible study method. Anyway, we have done some cross-referencing on the first phrase. Let’s continue:
Matthew 6: 10 Your kingdom come..”Concerning the future, the Lord taught His disciples to pray, “Thy Kingdom come,” Mat 6:10, where the verb is in the point tense, precluding the notion of gradual progress and development, and implying a sudden catastrophe as declared in2Th 2:8: And then the lawless one (the antichrist) will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by His appearing at His coming.
The Lord is coming! He is bringing an end to all the evil. 🙂
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are consecrated and purified by faith in Me.
Matthew 6:33But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
Praying to bring the kingdom, now we can know that the kingdom brings light and the power of God, release, a place, portion, purification by Jesus…just praying all these down! Bring it, Jesus! 🙂
Matthew 6: 10 Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
1 John 5: 14 And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.
15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.
John 9: 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and a worshiper of Him and does His will, He listens to him.
Luke 22:42Saying, Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but [[f]always] Yours be done.
In heaven, the will of God is sovereign, right? Understanding the power of praying in His will cannot be understated. He hears us. We can have confidence as we live and move and have our being in Him, we can pray according to His will. As we walk in His will for us, as we pray for our concerns..He hears. Our cry should be as that of Jesus, not my will but always, always Yours be done. 🙂
Matthew 6: 11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Luke 11: 5 And He said to them, Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and will say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves [of bread],
6 For a friend of mine who is on a journey has just come, and I have nothing to put before him;
7 And he from within will answer, Do not disturb me; the door is now closed, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and supply you [with anything]?
8 I tell you, although he will not get up and supply him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his shameless persistence and insistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
9 So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and [c]keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and [f]keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.
Matthew 21: 22 And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.
John 15: 7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
John 15: 16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as [b]presenting all that I Am], He may give it to you.
James 4: 1What leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?
2 You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
3 [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.
The word just speaks for itself, doesn’t it? Persistence, abiding in His will, intentions are all integral parts to a life of the beloved and praying in His will.
Friends, let’s not forget to ask the Lord to show us His will. Reveal Himself to us. As we learn to listen to His voice, faith grows. Our relationship with Him expands and deepens.
It’s been a hard morning trying to get this worked out. But, God be glorified as His word goes forth, pray on, friends. Pray on.
