Good morning, beloved,
Can I just say I’m awake! Mercy! I don’t usually sleep in but I guess I needed it! And my kids are sleeping in…although as I say that…
Check out these verses of the day! Amen! I’m finding a note card..
Romans 5
5Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.
6While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for (in behalf of) the ungodly.7Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die.
8But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.
9Therefore, since we are now justified ([a]acquitted, made righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ’s blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God.
Now, for my purpose today! What an amazing day, Easter! We went to my parents’ church for their service and the pastor performed as if he were Thomas. He told his story. So I had Noah sitting with me and we walked through Thomas’ story and of course, I was thinking of you and thought it would be lovely to have you along for another ride as well.
Thomas isn’t a star character, yet he’s a favorite of mine! Always has been. Even as a little girl, my favorite verses included some of his questions. So I’ve always held Thomas near and dear to my heart.
Thomas was a twin..(John 11: 16“Then Thomas, who was called the Twin..”) and his brother was Matthew the tax collector.
And in John 11, Thomas was willing to walk back to his death…or so he thought. Well, maybe. Jesus wasn’t done teaching this man all that He had for him.
12The disciples answered, Lord, if he is sleeping, he will recover.
13However, Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He referred to falling into a refreshing and natural sleep.
14So then Jesus told them plainly, Lazarus is dead,
15And for your sake I am glad that I was not there; it will help you to believe (to trust and rely on Me). However, let us go to him.
16Then Thomas, who was called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, Let us go too, that we may die [be killed] along with Him.
Thomas was full of good words. I am full of good words. God shows me that. I say something to a friend and then I come home and immediately it is put to the test. Humbling.
For your sake, I am glad that I was not there…friends, be grateful that they were not there! We need be in the center of God’s will. There is no better place to be. Ever. Ever. Ever.
It will help you to believe, to trust, rely on Me…I’m going to end there. His words are enough.
Pray on.
