Good morning, beloved,
Yesterday, after my son had his surgery I heard my favorite hymn on the radio yesterday. Favorites have their reasons. Someone purchased this album for me and I found it (which means I must have lost it..). As I beheld a cheesy cover, 80s hairdos, and southern gospel flair, Ella, my little girl, came running by, grabbed the disc and put it in the player. And this song came on. Our jaws just dropped. We kept hitting the rewind button.
Here is the history link and then I included the lyrics to the song to read as you listen…
1. He leadeth me, O blessèd thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Refrain:
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
2. Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.
Refrain
3. Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in Mine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.
Refrain
4. And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.
Well, if anyone is still with me other than my Jesus, LOL, let’s plunge on ahead.
“[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 AMP
Very interesting here: so a person is blessed (barak) to bend the knees, to kneel…they are considered a man (geber)man, strong man, warrior (emphasising strength or ability to fight) to bend the knee…to trust in someone else..namely our God. The Lord! Our strength is not derived from anything within ourselves. Our warrior status is nothing that we can do. It is all because
of Him.
And what will we be like? A tree…by the water…
But come back to trust with me, look at the first mention of trust is this: to have confidence, be confident, to be bold, to be secure. He who trusts in the Lord…It is evident that you and I will have these gifts when we turn our face to the Lord.
The second mention of trust…and whose trust is the Lord…trust, confidence, refuge, act of confiding, object of confidence, state of confidence, security. How often have we put our trust in an object?
Every time we step into a house or sit down in a car or walk into a building we make that the object of our trust, do we not?
Now how much more does God deserve to be the object of our trust?
Good grief, it is 8:30am..I have to get my day moving!! Pray on, friends…pray on!!
