So, last week was my first week of planning ahead of time, my posts. Now, this week upcoming, I have done the same thing. I have also allotted time to recap the week. That is my hope for today. As I write, I am learning, yet it is so easy to forget and move on. Just as it is so important for me to catalog my answered prayers, it is critical i am reminded of how God met me this week in study.
Fasting
I do not have a regular practice of fasting. This first day, opened my eyes, not only to remind myself of the reasons for fasting, but also, how to approach a difficult passage. What are the steps to help me not just jump over the hard passages? Also, if Jesus knows fasting and wants it for us, then why am i not fasting in some form or another? That’s a good question and something to address on my walk today.
Do you believe?
That question Jesus asks the two blind men in Matthew 9 reverberates throughout history to this present moment. I believe. Help me believe. And I believe he does. Recalling story after story of the faith of those Jesus met, I am reminded, they are human and so am I. This is a practice I develop only with the help of the Spirit.
Worth
I hope you were able to watch the video I linked in this post. Our worth, understanding that we have worth is so important. We remember the sparrows. I’m convinced that images like the sparrow found in Matthew 10:26-31 are our reminder. See a sparrow, remember our worth. Hold onto truth found in Scripture.
We are to know John’s story. We are to see who he was and why Jesus regarded him with such honor. There are reasons. John’s life was not tied to the trappings of this world. He was free. People flocked to him, to hear him speak, to be baptized. Jesus came to be baptized by John. What do I hold most dear in my life? If it is something I cannot take with me when I die, then help me, Lord, find them. Oh, and yes, I did not even try to take apart Matthew 11:12. Maybe some day, not today.
When life begins to feel like a hamster on a wheel, it is time to take a deep breath and stop. Worship is not just Sunday mornings. It is meant for every day as described in the Lord’s Prayer. ‘Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name’…Matthew 6. God sees everything, from the individual prayers to the very hairs on your head. Teach us Lord.
Well, thanks for going along with me today. A good review and much to think on today. I’ll take Sundays off, but I’ll see ya back here Monday!
