I have a goal that I wrote down and then erased and now, this morning am reconsidering. I want to start waking early. The holiday season has lulled me into a later morning. A calmer, quieter start to my morning, rather than rushing, is my hope. So, when I started up the Dwell app, I saw a perfect theme throughout the Bible. Waking.
“In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will prepare [a prayer and a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].”
Psalms 5:3 AMP

Promises for my morning. The Lord hears me. The Psalmist then promises to prepare, watch and wait. Look at this word;
ârak, aw-rak’; a primitive root; to set in a row, i.e. arrange, put in order (in a very wide variety of applications):—put (set) (the battle, self) in array, compare, direct, equal, esteem, estimate, expert (in war), furnish, handle, join (battle), ordain, (lay, put, reckon up, set) (in) order, prepare, tax, value. Strongs
This teaches me. Come to my time with the Lord prepared. Wanting to hear from the Lord. Every morning, setting up my time, laying out my Bible, my pencils, my journal and my iPad. This tells my brain, I will enter his courts.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, immovable] rock and my Redeemer.”
Psalms 19:14 AMP

Beginning my time with the Lord by asking him to find my sacrifice of time and worship acceptable. Not spending my time in the word distracted. (Tho this does happen. And when it does, bringing my heart back to focus.) Asking the Lord to, again, prepare my heart. Focusing on the Lord who is firm and immovable, who is my Redeemer.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation— Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life— Whom shall I dread? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though an army encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, Even in this I am confident. One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.”
Psalms 27:1-4 AMP

As I am sure you have picked up by now, if you are reading this, I struggle with fear. This is one of my favorites to begin my day. Declarations. The Lord is my light. My deliverance. Whom shall i fear? There may be reasons all around me that I should fear, rather, the Psalmist declares to his heart. I will be confident. His prayer is simple, I want to be where you are. In your temple, gazing on your beauty. I want my meditations to not be focused on the fear, but focused on his majestic grandeur. Behold our King.
“Sing to the Lord, O you His godly ones, And give thanks at the mention of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may endure for a night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.”
Psalms 30:4-5 AMP
https://bible.com/bible/1588/psa.30.4-5.AMP
Sing. Oh my soul, sing. Something Always Changes When I Bless Your Name. Always. Giving thanks every morning. I actually have a journal for this very purpose. To write three things for which i am thankful. I bless His name for his favor on my life. Tears come and tears go. Look up my soul and find my joy in his presence.
“Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness and be satisfied; Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.”
Psalms 51:7-12 AMP
https://bible.com/bible/1588/psa.51.7-12.AMP
Create in me a clean heart. A washed soul, reminders again, when we have snow. White, beautiful snow. This is the state of a clean heart. This prayer is to ask the Lord to help us find joy. Help us rejoice in all circumstances. Do i worship with tears clogging my throat and eyes? Yes, yes I do. I am not advocating fake smiles, I am saying “…that the air get clearer. The sun gets brighter. My soul gets lighter when I bless His name.” (Upper room) I am renewed.
I think I will pick up again tomorrow. Clear my mind, Lord. I wake and ask you to teach me how to bless your name.
